ABOUT OPHIS ENTERTAINMENT Ophis Entertainment is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was founded by filmmaker and author Dāv Kaufman in 2003. Since that time, the company has worked with sister companies including Crotalus Productions, and Crotalus Publishing. Today, the company has been conglomerated to include all aspects of media, focusing primarily on feature film production. The company’s films have been released globally through distribution partners such as Maverick Entertainment and Lion’s Gate Home Entertainment, and are widely available at Blockbuster Video, RedBox, Netflix, and other retail and rental locations throughout the world. About Dāv Kaufman Dāv Kaufman has been involved in the Entertainment Industry since the early 90s. He is a critically acclaimed novelist with Lake Desire (Crotalus Publishing, 2003) from which he has received several critical accolades. His works in non-fiction have been highlighted in the coffee table book North: Stories and Photographs (Crotalus Publishing, 2004). His photographs and writings on reptiles have been featured in several magazines including Reptiles Magazine, and Boundary Waters Journal. His other magazine works include interviewing actor Dave Prowse on being Darth Vader for Rise Magazine. As a Voice Over talent, Dāv had four character voices in the video game Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2005. Dāv is also known as one of the founders of the hit festival, the Wild River Music, Comedy & Film Festival held in St. Paul, Minnesota September 6-10, 2006. The diverse festival featured over thirty music acts including Al Green as the music headliner. A host of local comedians and over fifty independent films from around the world also rounded out the festival’s schedule. Dāv is also a multiple award winning filmmaker. His premiere film, 13 Hours in a Warehouse (2008), won the prestigious Gold Remi Award at the Houston International Film Festival, the Best Horror Film Award at the 2008 Indie Spirit Film Festival, and won the Best Traditional Horror Film Award at Crypticon Seattle 2008. The film was released in the US on October 28th, 2008 through Maverick Entertainment Group, in Europe through Lion’s Gate Home Entertainment, and in 2011, the film was released in China making it one of the only American made, independently produced horror films to do so. His premiere documentary, Herpers (2009), was the first feature documentary on the great reptile culture. The film became an instant classic in the world of Herpetology, and in independent film, winning an astonishing seven awards; 4 Telly Awards, Award of Merit in the Accolade Film Competition, Platinum Best of Show in the Aurora Awards, and the Star Award for Best Documentary at the Indie Gathering Film Festival. Due to high demand, a Director’s Cut version of the film was released in 2010. The film was so successful that on September 28th, 2011, he released Herpers II, moving the projects towards becoming the first documentary franchise in film history! Today Dāv is working on the release of his new novel, Elysium Coast, and is in production on two other feature films.
